How Big Does The Surplus Have To Be, Dr Cullen And Dr Brash?
Rodney Hide Wednesday, 11 October 2006 Press Releases - Economy
ACT Leader Rodney Hide is appalled that both Dr Cullen and Dr Brash are pedalling the line that government cannot afford immediate, dramatic and across-the-board tax cuts.
"Nothing would do more to boost the economy and hard working Kiwis' pay packets than comprehensive cuts to income tax", Mr Hide said.
"The $10 Billion surplus is sufficient to drop company tax and the top rate of income tax to 20 cents in the dollar.
"I understand Dr Cullen's ideological aversion to letting people spend their own money. What I don't understand is why Dr Brash has gone soft, done a u-turn, and adopted Labour's policy of 'tax cuts - but not yet'.
