Turner applauds PlunketLine continuance
United Future health and families spokesperson Judy Turner says families across the country will be comforted to know that Plunket is to continue PlunketLine.
Mrs Turner is commenting on the announcement that Plunket has decided to continue with PlunketLine, with community and corporate support, after the Government pulled its funding several months ago.
“Families trust Plunket and that can’t be bought.
“Good on Plunket for making the right decision in a tough call. Constancy of funding is the biggest problem for charities today so keeping a service without Ministry of Health funding can’t be easy.
“Let's not kid ourselves about it. PlunketLine can’t be cheap to run. Thanks to community and corporate funding it will keep going. I only hope Plunket doesn’t other have to cut other services to fund PlunketLine either now or in the future.
“It’s now up to the community and corporate sponsors – and the public of New Zealand – to help Plunket help parents,” says Mrs Turner.
