Statement on investigation into the Kahui family
The priority for New Zealand is to establish who is responsible for the tragic deaths of Chris and Cru Kahui, and to take appropriate action against the person or people involved.
Following a meeting with the Police and the Ministry of Social Development it has been agreed that the Ministry will not interview family members until the Police investigation into the deaths of the twins is concluded.
The Ministry investigation will resume at the appropriate time. If anyone is found to have committed benefit fraud, they will be held accountable.
