Sign the Plunket petition and force a backdown
National Party Leader Don Brash is urging New Zealanders to sign the petition which aims to force a Labour backdown on the decision to axe funding for the PlunketLine service.
“I signed yesterday and I’d encourage other Kiwis to do the same.”
In the advertising campaign that accompanies the petition, Plunket says ‘commonsense must prevail’ and it urges the public to ‘help jolt Government back to reality’.
National MPs are expected to circulate the petition widely and Dr Brash says it’s disappointing that such action is necessary.
“Plunket was once offered Helen Clark’s personal protection. She needs to honour that promise.
“I am hopeful that if enough of us back the service, Labour will be forced to reverse its decision.”
Dr Brash says Plunket has over-delivered on the contract it had with the Government, and is a highly trusted and respected service.
“Plunket has been giving good advice to Kiwi mothers and babies for generations.
“Don’t let Pete Hodgson and Helen Clark pull the pin,” says Dr Brash.
