Local body unity on Transmission Gully
United Future leader and Ohariu-Belmont MP Peter Dunne is delighted all of Wellington's local bodies are now getting in behind the Transmission Gully motorway project.
This follows news that Wellington City Council will discuss a Council paper later this week recommending that the Council support the project.
"Throughout this lengthy campaign, it has been vital that the region present a united front on this project so that central Government would have no excuse to wriggle out of supporting it," he said.
"Now we can get on with constructing the motorway, which I would remind people is not solely for the benefit of people living north of Wellington but will assist the economic well-being of everyone living in Wellington, the Wairarapa, Horowhenua and the Kapiti coast.
"I look forward to a positive vote from the Wellington City Council on Thursday," said Mr Dunne.
