Great Work Midcentral!
United Future Health Spokesperson Judy Turner says it’s great to see DHBs working with private hospitals to achieve shorter waiting lists and better health for its local community.
“Midcentral DHB is to be congratulated for its contract with Southern Cross Hospital.”
The contract will cut the waiting time for more than 800 patients needing cardiology treatment.
United Future has consistently been an advocate for greater utilisation of private hospital capacity. United Future has specifically included increasing the use of private hospital capacity to reduce waiting lists in its Confidence and Supply Agreement with the Labour Government.
“It is crazy to have long waiting lists in public hospitals and empty operating rooms in the neighbouring private hospitals.”
“I look forward to seeing more contracts between DHBs and private hospitals in the future with the encouragement of United Future.”
“This is excellent news for the people of Manawatu. They will be thrilled to know they won’t have to wait so long for their treatment,” says Mrs Turner.
