Congrats To Wairarapa on Violence-Free Philosophy
Maori Party Congratulates Wairarapa on Violence-Free Philosophy
“Every child, family and community deserves the right to be violence-free” said Tariana Turia, co-leader of the Maori Party.
“We are all so proud of the work that the Violence-Free Wairarapa campaign has done in ensuring their community puts a stop to violence” said Mrs Turia. “It has been a long journey - and there will still be challenges ahead - but the key to change has come about through rejecting violence as ‘normal’”.
The Violence-Free Wairarapa resource kit will be launched at 10am on Friday 10 February at the Masterton Town Hall. The purpose of the kit is to keep the campaign ‘alive’ in the community.
“I know through my involvement with family violence projects, that the urgency of addressing violence, abuse and neglect takes leadership and commitment at all levels” said Mrs Turia.
“The Maori Party commends the leadership of all of those organisations, including the Wairarapa community, who are committed to creating a society where violence in any form is not tolerated”.
