Dr Cullen Can Do Better Than This
New Zealand First labour spokesperson Peter Brown is urging the Minister of Finance to do everything he can to ensure
that the board of Air New Zealand follows good process on the consideration of their engineers' proposal to keep their
jobs.
Mr Brown called on Dr Cullen today to use his "legitimate influence" to ensure that the board would be giving "full,
fair and meaningful" consideration to the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union's proposal, which will be
presented to the Air New Zealand board tomorrow.
"Dr Cullen has only confirmed that he would 'expect' that the proposal would be given serious consideration by the
board. Such a vague response displays a complete lack of commitment to these workers.
"The majority of voters who supported Labour at the last election would expect an assurance from the Minister that he
will do all he can in his power to ensure that the proposal is given meaningful and thorough consideration.
"The Government, as majority shareholder, should be doing everything it can to see the best outcome for our engineers,"
said Mr Brown.
