Dunne delighted at National support on
carbon tax
United Future leader, Peter Dunne, said today he was delighted to hear the National Party is swinging in behind United Future with a campaign against Labour's proposed carbon tax.
"As part of our confidence and supply agreement with Labour, we negotiated a new cost benefit analysis of the proposal to introduce a carbon tax as part of New Zealand's obligations under the Kyoto Protocol," said Mr Dunne.
"The criteria and/or terms of reference for this analysis will be agreed through sector-wide consultation. This is intended to ensure the analysis won't be hijacked by ideological or bureaucratic agendas.
"I am extremely confident that any reasonable independent analysis will kill the carbon tax stone dead."
Mr Dunne said it was pleasing to see the National Party had decided United Future was on the right path "and we look forward to working with them on this issue".
