Labour pits health worker against health worker

Labour's 30% wage increase for hospital based nurses, and 1.7% pittance for other health force staff reveals the cynical political nature of Labours health strategy, ACT Health Spokesman Heather Roy said today.

"It was entirely predictable that giving hospital based nurses a national award and 30% increase would lead to other health workforce employees wanting and demanding similar rewards.

"Labour, cynically seeking votes and knowing that the public has a high regard for nurses, has been dismissive of the remaining hospital workforce because they do not have the same public profile or support.

"Health Minister Annette King's approach has split the health sector and raised costs to a high level. This is clearly unacceptable and Annette King should go," Mrs Roy said.
