DHB deficits will blow out to $80 million

DHB deficits will blow out to $80 million

Press Releases - Health

The latest June quarter District Health Board surplus data highlights Labour's mismanagement of DHBs, ACT Health Spokesman Heather Roy said today.

"The Pre-election Fiscal Update confirmed that DHB deficits are set to deteriorate this year.

"Hidden away at the back of the update was confirmation that despite pouring an extra $3.5 billion into health this year, Treasury has confirmed that DHB deficits will double this year and next to around $80 million.

"This is despite Annette King telling Parliament that it would only be $15 million this year," Mrs Roy said.

"Never in our history has so much extra money been poured into a ministry with so little result.

"How can it be that $3. 5 billion more is poured in, yet DHB deficits are doubling this year?

"Annette King and Labour's answer to all health failures is to point to the extra billions injected. But the truth is there are 180,600 people on Labour's health waiting lists and to cap it all off, DHB deficits are set to grow again.

"Health is Labour's greatest failure. Labour has mismanaged the health portfolio and they should go," Mrs Roy said.
