Turner: Labour adopts UF early childhood education policy

Labour’s extension of its policy of 20 free hours of early childhood education to private centres is a direct pick-up of United Future’s policy, the party’s deputy leader, Judy Turner, today.

“It’s common sense over ideology and something we strongly and publicly pushed.

"In fact, it was in our Budget bids put to the Labour Government earlier this year and we’re delighted to see that on yet another issue, they have slowly but surely come around to United Future policy,” Mrs Turner said.

“This is about giving parents choice about where they seek child care and early education for their youngsters, without hamstringing them with Labour ideology. It should always have been that way,” she said.
