Family Court Judge appointed
Attorney-General Michael Cullen has announced the appointment of Margaret Rogers of Auckland as a Family Court Judge. Ms Rogers will be sworn in on 2 September and will sit at Manukau Court.
Ms Rogers was admitted to the bar in 1989, and after 11 years of general practice in firms in Masterton and Auckland, she was appointed as a Senior Crown Prosecutor with Meredith Connell in Auckland in 2000. Her areas of expertise are criminal law (including youth justice) and family law and she heads the firm’s CYF and Youth Court Teams.
Ms Rogers is a member of the Family Law Section of the NZ Law Society. For the Auckland District Law Society she has served on the Criminal Law Committee, the Family Law Committee and the Criminal Legal Aid Sub-committee, and as Society representative on the Auckland Regional Panel to review Youth Advocate appointments. She has been a guest speaker at NZ Police training events and an assessor for the NZLS Duty Solicitor Training Programme.
