Water - a real solution for healthier kids
Water- a real solution for healthier kids, say Greens
The healthiest drink option for children is water and best of all kids don't need a booklet to tell them how much of it they can have, the Green Party says.
Coca-Cola today released a guide to 'making healthy beverage choices' saying it was responding to the fact that softdrinks were constantly being singled out as the cause of obesity.
"With 15 teaspoons of sugar per 600ml bottle of Coca-Cola, it is not surprising that these drinks cop some of the blame for contributing to the obesity epidemic," Green Party Health Spokesperson Sue Kedgley says.
"If this company really wanted to help children make healthy choices, they would not be targeting their marketing at young people and would get their vending machines out of schools.
"This seems to me to be nothing but a Public Relations exercise, aimed at making sugary, caffeine-filled drinks acceptable," Ms Kedgley says.
