PM - When Will You Stop Ripping Seniors Off?
22 July 2005
WELCOME TO TAURANGA PRIME MINISTER:
WHEN
ARE YOU GOING TO STOP RIPPING SENIORS OFF?
Rt Hon Winston Peters says he hopes the Prime Minister enjoys her visit to Tauranga today, and he also hopes she will explain to the region’s Grey Power members why her government continues to rip off our seniors.
“In the last financial year, superannuation never reached the 65% threshold. Perhaps the Prime Minister would be kind enough to tell Grey Power members why this swindling continues under her government and what she plans to do about it.
“The Prime Minister has a chance today to explain why New Zealand First’s Golden Age Card is such a bad idea for seniors.
“She might also tell them why she can find over $1billion for almost every other type of beneficiary through working for families, but superannuitants get nothing extra in their payment.
“Last week New Zealand First launched a petition aimed at seeking redress for superannuitants for the shortfall of $227 for married couples and $148 for single superannuitants.
“The Prime Minster can talk all she wants, but seniors in New Zealand already know New Zealand First is their only choice for real change,” concluded Mr Peters.
