Capill could be out in three years' time

Capill could be out in three years' time

Graham Capill could be out of jail in three years' time, says National's Law and Order spokesman, Tony Ryall.

"The current sentencing laws are a deliberate deception. Virtually no criminal ever serves their full sentence. And everyone knows it, including Capill.

"In an email to supporters, it is reported that Capill raised the possibility of being sent to prison for nine years, and said he hoped to serve only one-third of his sentence.

"New Zealanders will be repulsed that such a man could be out after only three years.

"Capill should be in jail much, much longer.

"Under National, such an offender would be denied parole and be expected to do their entire sentence behind bars, and face tough monitoring after their eventual release," Mr Ryall says.
