Action on youth drinking? Party vote Progressive!
Want action on youth binge drinking? Party vote
Progressive!
People attending a public meeting tonight on the misuse of alcohol by very young teenagers will be urged to give their party vote to the Progressive party in this year's general election, says Progressive MP Matt Robson.
"I am attending a Forum North public meeting in Whangarei this evening to listen to peoples' views on my Sale of Liquor (Youth Alcohol Harm Reduction) Amendment Bill.
"Tonight's meeting is the latest in a series around the country that I have been attending urging the public to get their voices heard by the politicians on the Law and Order Select Committee which is deliberating on the Bill.
"My first message is to get your submission in to the committee, via a stamp-free letter to Parliament, before deadline on August 12. Let your political representatives know what you think and hold them to account," Matt Robson said.
"My second message is that to really get the message through to politicians, make sure you give your party vote to the Progressive Party in the general election later this year.
"Whangarei-based MP Muriel Newman belongs to a party that says it is interested in turning the tide against drug abuse. In reality, Ms Newman, her leader Mr. Rodney Hide and just about every other ACT Party Member of Parliament voted against my Bill that of course offers some solutions to tackle our Number One Drug Problem – alcohol.
"In fact, the leaders of National, ACT and United Future all voted against my Bill even going as far as the select committee where Whangarei families can have their say on what we need to do together to turn the tide against the tragic misuse of alcohol by too many young teenagers and children," Matt Robson said.
