Attacks on houses of worship are totally unacceptable
The vandalism of extremists who have attacked Muslim houses of worship overnight is totally unacceptable in any society, let alone one as multicultural and tolerant of differences as New Zealand, says Progressive leader Jim Anderton.
"These attacks on the Auckland Muslim community are an affront to every single New Zealander and every single community," he said.
"Everyone is disgusted by the evil of the terrorist murders committed in London and other places overseas.
"But evil crimes overseas can never be an excuse to intimidate or hurt innocent members of New Zealand's ethnic communities, many of whom originally came to our country to build a happier, safer life for themselves and their families in our law-abiding society," Jim Anderton said.
