Labour hiring binge continues
National Party Finance spokesman John Key says new figures out today show Labour’s hiring binge is showing no sign of letting up.
“Michael Cullen is unable to rein in his colleagues and spending is out of control despite his calls for some restraint,” says Mr Key.
He is referring to figures released in the six-monthly Hudson survey. It confirms that Labour’s hiring binge is contributing to an economy-wide skills shortage.
“Government hiring is at a three-year high and, as the report notes, ‘the election appears to have had little impact on hiring plans’.
“Meanwhile, Wellington bureaucrats are filling a growing share of the capital’s commercial office space at great cost to the taxpayer.
“These numbers make a mockery of Michael Cullen’s claim that there is absolutely no waste in Labour’s big Government model,” says Mr Key.
