Peters Calls For Government Action Deplores Lack Of Urgency On Waitara Works
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters has called on the Prime Minister to set aside her social engineering agenda and attend to the important and pressing issues confronting New Zealand.
“The Government has shown no interest in the outcome of the Court of Appeal hearing of Anzco Food’s appeal over a High Court ruling that prevents export production and employment in Waitara. It obviously isn’t a priority for them,” Mr. Peters said.
“Although the injunctive hearing took place seven months ago, and despite the commercial and employment issues making it an urgent matter, no decision has yet been given.
“In the time that has elapsed Ms Clark’s government would normally have passed any amount of gay marriage and no smoking legislation, but there are no signs of urgency on this matter. She should instruct her Minister to provide a clear indication of precisely when a decision from the Court might be expected.
“The lack of action on the Waitara works has sullied New Zealand’s international reputation and is undermining the credibility of our commercial law,” Mr. Peters said.
