Hang On – Help Is On The Way Says Mark

New Zealand First has assured worried senior citizens in the Manawatu that more police will be appointed to the area after the election.

This is in response to a Manawatu Grey Power call for more police in the area following the death of three elderly people killed in their homes in Marton and Feilding.

Law and order police spokesman Ron Mark said it was disgraceful that elderly people who had lived their lives in safe rural towns now had to barricade themselves inside fortress homes in order to protect themselves.

“They have earned the right to security, to live their lives in dignity and enjoy their grandchildren in retirement. We mean to see they are kept safe,” said Mr Mark.

“Police do not have the resources to maintain regular patrols in country towns. They find it difficult to meet the needs of the community as well as this government’s twisted priorities.

“New Zealand First is committed to doubling the size of the New Zealand Police over five years and to providing better security to our senior citizens.

“To Grey Power we say, hold on, help is on the way. Vote New Zealand First in this election and you will see police numbers double. You have the power - use it,” concluded Mr Mark.
