The Maori Party is commencing a nationwide tour
The Maori Party is commencing a nationwide tour to discuss its policy programme with the people.
"The process of developing our policy ideas has involved people from one end of the country to the other" said Tariana Turia, co-leader of the Maori Party. "It was our absolute responsibility to return to them first, to share the results of months of hard work, and to ask for their feedback".
The tour kicks off in Kaitaia on Wednesday 8 June.
"As we approach the Matariki, our New Year, it is right that we go to the people to discuss our direction for an exciting new period in our nation's history" said Mrs Turia today.
Invigorated by the success of their recent ten-day Australian tour, the Maori Party is looking forward to the emergence of a new dawn in politics in Aotearoa.
"Our experience both at home and overseas, has been resoundingly positive. The people are looking forward to creating a new tomorrow for this nation. Our policy programme, 'Moving our Nation Forward' will be the means by which we hope to achieve change for the better".
