Environmental experts to discuss rivers at Green AGM

A panel discussion on the state of New Zealand's rivers will take place at the Green Party AGM next weekend.

The panel will feature Green Co-Leader Jeanette Fitzsimons, Neil Deans of Fish and Game, and Kevin Hackwell of Forest and Bird. They will discuss the state of New Zealand's rivers, in light of the fact that 95 percent of our lowland rivers are too polluted for swimming or drinking.

Mr Deans is Fish and Game's Nelson/Marlborough Regional Manager and the President of the New Zealand Freshwater Sciences Society. Mr Hackwell is Forest and Bird's Conservation Manager.

What: Panel discussion on the state of NZ's rivers.

When: Sunday, June 5, 2-3pm.

Where: Green Party AGM, Te Matauranga Maori Marae, Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology, Madras Street, Christchurch.
