Announced pre-budget: $24.6 million over four years to the Department of Conservation to support its core programmes, including saving the kakapo from extinction $2.1 million for conservation work on the Hauraki islands $11.6 million over four years to crack down on paua and lobster poaching $5.4 million over four years to promote New Zealand contemporary music overseas $4.4 million over four years for non-commercial radio and regional television $3.4 million over two years for Maori broadcasting $1.2 million to support a mobile exhibition of the Treaty of Waitangi.
