ACT welcomes Federated Farmers' call for tax cuts

ACT Rural Affairs spokesman Gerry Eckhoff today welcomed Federated Farmers' call for the Labour Government to cut taxes in this week's Budget.

Mr Eckhoff was responding to Federated Farmers President Tom Lambie's claim that farmers are being overtaxed under Labour.

"Mr Lambie is right. Labour has treated farmers like a cash cow that it can squeeze for more money whenever it likes," Mr Eckhoff said.

This anti-farmer government has whacked rural communities with over 30 new or increased taxes, levies or duties since it came to office.

Labour would have also introduced a dopey Fart Tax on carbon emissions had it not been for ACT and Federated Farmers' staunch opposition to it.

The Government bangs on about how farmers should increase their productivity and to invest in farms, but how can they when Labour overtaxes them?

"ACT is the only party that will let farmers keep more of what they earn. We will reduce the top personal and company tax rate to 25c in the dollar that's a tax cut for every farmer.

Farmers wanting a decent tax cut should send the two tired, old parties a strong message and give their party vote to ACT this election," Mr Eckhoff said.
