Don Brash questions ethics of Doone case

National Party Leader Don Brash is questioning the ethics of Helen Clark’s behaviour around the Peter Doone defamation case.

“This is really all about due process and the rule of law.

“Whatever the rights and wrongs of this particular case, due process and the rule of law should have been followed.

“If Helen Clark has sought to undermine the rule of law by engaging in a political witch-hunt targeting Mr Doone - through either initiating or participating in a media leak - then that is a despicable way for the Prime Minister to behave.

“If that is the case then it sets a deplorable standard and shows contempt for the rule of law and the processes by which we should have good government,” says Dr Brash.
