UF backs children’s initiative
United Future education spokesman, Bernie Ogilvy, says his party strongly backs the “Every Child Counts” campaign launched in Auckland today.
Mr Ogilvy, who attended the launch, says United Future strongly advocates programmes with a preventative focus that will see children’s strengths developed from an early age.
“But I want to highlight our view that we do not see children’s needs as being separate from their family or whanau needs.
“Children are inseparable from their families and they must be seen in that context.
“That said, I applaud the efforts of Barnados, Unicef, Save the Children, Plunket and the Institute of Public Policy in trying to get children and their needs to be the focus of policy development in this country,” said Mr Ogilvy.
