Confusion reigns over flu vaccine
The situation surrounding the flu vaccine is changing by the minute, a disbelieving ACT health spokesman Heather Roy said today.
Mrs Roy was responding to the latest news from Pharmac that most GPs will not be getting supplies of the full strength full vaccine until mid May.
"First thing this morning GPs thought they were getting the full vaccine by April 26. By lunchtime this had changed to early May and now they have been told while some supplies will be available on time, 300,000 doses won't be ready until mid may," Mrs Roy said.
"Lets have some clarity to the situation so that GPs and patients have some realistic idea of when they can get access to the flu injections. This programme has been totally mismanaged. Some forethought and planning of the flu vaccination programme for this winter would have gone a long way Mrs Roy said.
