National Leader Welcomes List Decision
National Party Leader Don Brash is welcoming the announcement today that current standing MPs will be ranked within the top 30 places of the Party List at this year's election.
"Since the election in 2002 our small dedicated team has been pulling together a strong mix of policies and initiatives that we will take to the public this year.
"I'm delighted that our current core of MPs has been recognised for the hard work they've done and will undoubtedly be doing for the rest of their term in Opposition.
"Today's announcement will allow the team to get on with the job of holding Helen Clark and the Labour Government to account, without having to worry about where they will be placed on the Party List. It is further evidence that National has got to grips with MMP.
"With the strength of our new candidates and our common vision for a more prosperous, low-tax New Zealand, the next National Government will almost certainly feature a big line-up of talented new MPs.
"National's now well placed to offer a real alternative to the complacent, stale-looking Labour Party, which is refusing to make real changes despite all the tough talk," says Dr Brash.
