Another Police 111 Cover-Up
New Zealand First law and order spokesperson Ron Mark has rejected the explanation given by Police Headquarters for the 111 incident in Christchurch last July.
“The police statement is an exercise in semantics because it acknowledges traffic police were on duty, but says they were not logged on at the time.
“They have simply redesignated traffic police into two separate parts – Highway Patrol and Strategic Traffic Units – and used this to skew the facts of the matter.
“By denying claims that Highway Patrols ignored calls to assist, because none of those were rostered for duty at the time of the call, police have misled the public because in actual fact they have in their own words confirmed that there WERE dedicated traffic officers on duty when the call was made, and that they failed to respond.
“Moreover, the press release was issued from Police Headquarters without even interviewing the frontline staff member who could not get a response from the traffic units, nor his supervisor,” concluded Mr Mark.
