Alexander: School Principal should resign

Alexander: School Principal should resign

“Gisbourne School Principal Jim Corder (Lytton High) should do the only honourable thing and resign if he thinks its forgivable to indecently assault an 11 year old boy just because that despicable act was committed by a friend,” said United Future Law and Order spokesman Marc Alexander.

“Parents have every right to expect the leadership of a school to place the highest premium on their children’s safety, security and welfare – certainly above that of any friendship to a predator.

It was on an Intermediate School camp that an 11 year old boy was indecently assaulted by the Principals’ friend Blair Purcell. He claimed to be too drunk to remember.

Corder should not find it acceptable that a Parent Helper who was given the responsibility of looking after young kids to be intoxicated let alone forgive the sexual abuse. No friendship should be strong enough to survive what should be a kid’s first priority.

“Given the Principals’ attitude, how can any parent continue to entrust the wellbeing of their child into his care? The principal should examine his own principles and resign.”
