NZ National Party Board appointments
The New Zealand National Party today announced the appointment of Rt. Hon Wyatt Creech and Mr Peter Goodfellow to its Board of Directors.
The appointments fill two casual vacancies on the Board created by the selection of Eric Roy and David Bennett as candidates for the Party.
Rt. Hon Wyatt Creech entered Parliament in 1988 as the MP for Wairarapa. During his time in Parliament he held many ministerial posts including those of Minister of Education and Minister of Health. He was also Deputy Leader and Deputy Prime Minister.
Mr Creech retired from Parliament in 2002 and since then has been involved in the formation of Open Country Cheese, New Zealand's first independent cheese and dairy factory.
Peter Goodfellow is currently the National Party’s Deputy Chair of the North Shore electorate. He has had a long involvement in the Party holding such positions as the Chair of the Auckland Young Nationals, Chair of the Northern Region Communications Committee and Chair of the North Shore Campaign Committee.
Mr Goodfellow is also the Executive Chairman of S.H Lock (NZ) Ltd, a finance company providing trade and finance factoring throughout New Zealand and a director of Easy Factors International Ltd, providing factoring and loans to small and medium sized enterprises.
National Party President Judy Kirk said she was delighted that Wyatt Creech and Peter Goodfellow were joining the Party’s Board of Directors.
“Wyatt and Peter bring a wealth of Parliamentary and Party experience to the Board. They also have wide commercial and governance experience. They both have much to offer the Party as we head into our party vote campaign in 2005,” Judy Kirk said.
The appointments of Mr Creech and Mr Goodfellow are effective through to the Party’s Annual General Conference next year where they will be eligible to seek re-selection by the conference delegates.
