Parliamentary Dinner to celebrate Human Rights Day

A dinner well be held at Parliament tomorrow night to celebrate International Human Rights Day.

The evening is being hosted by Green MPs Keith Locke and Jeanette Fitzsimons, Progressive MP Matt Robson, Maori Party MP Tariana Turia and National MP Katherine Rich.

A major theme of the evening will be women's rights, with speeches by Human Rights Commissioner Rosslyn Noonan and Susie Blowers from Amnesty International. Miranda Harcourt will read a message from Ahmed Zaoui and Mahinarangi Tocker will be singing.

The event will also be attended by many people prominent in their respective fields - the churches, unions, universities, the legal professions, the artistic community and civil liberties groups.
