Mark Blumsky lines up Marian Hobbs in '05

"Marian Hobbs is on notice - her seat will not be safe come the '05 election," says National's newly selected Wellington Central candidate Mark Blumsky.

Mr Blumsky was selected unopposed as the National Party candidate for Wellington Central at the weekend.

"It's a great honour and very humbling to be given such strong backing from the local electorate. I promise to repay that faith with a strong local campaign, focussing on the issues which Wellington people care about.

"For too long, Labour MPs have taken their stranglehold on the electorates in the Lower North Island for granted.

"Today I am putting Marian Hobbs on notice that Wellington Central deserves better representation and it will get it from me.

"Wellington needs a National Government so local developments aren't held up by endless, frivolous objections and so ratepayers don't face further hikes because of central government buck-passing.

"Wellington needs a National Government to get our roads built and to keep our communities safe from repeat and violent criminals.

"While I plan to be unashamedly locally focussed in my campaign, I will also be urging everyone to give National their party vote.

"Wellington needs a strong National voice, and in '05 we're going to put the Wellington back into Wellington," says Mr Blumsky.
