Appointment to the Environment Court
Attorney-General Margaret Wilson today announced the appointment of Dr Ian Stewart as an Environment Commissioner.
Dr Stewart is Principal of the policy management consultancy firm Strategic Policy Analysts Ltd, engaged in projects in the education and resource management fields. He has advised to the Historic Places Trust on resource management matters and served as the Conservation Minister's appointee to restricted coastal activity hearings. Dr Stewart has also been a Resource Consent Commissioner for other resource consent hearings. He has been an expert witness before the Environment Court, Mâori Land Court and Valuations Tribunal on coastal policy, fisheries policy and resource management issues, and advised both government and private clients on regional and district plans.
Dr Stewart has a Bachelor of Science in Botany and Zoology and a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Zoology. His Doctorate is in Resource Management.
He will work in the Environment Court in Auckland.
