People urged to give views on possible trade deals

Progressive MP Matt Robson is urging members of the public to make their views known ahead of the possible signing of trade deals between New Zealand and Malaysia and between New Zealand and the ASEAN group of nations.

"The Labour Progressive government wants your views as we prepare for negotiations on a possible ASEAN/Australia/New Zealand trade agreement and a potential New Zealand-Malaysia deal.

"This is a chance for people to have their say on how we ensure that New Zealand best benefits from the increasingly borderless global economy.

Two public consultation documents providing further background on each of the processes are available on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade website, www.mfat.govt.nz. The website provides a submission template that people could complete. Submissions are due by 17 December.

ASEAN includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
