Alexander backs public against Govt and crims

United Future law & order spokesman Marc Alexander is demanding to know why the Government is putting international treaties ahead of the interests of justice in our own country.

“The very idea that criminals are getting their taxpayer-funded day in Court to claim taxpayer-funded compensation for such things as ‘hurt feelings’ and for being segregated because they pose a genuine threat to the safety of guards and other inmates is a slap in the face for all victims.

“The public is heartily sick of claims which run counter to the interests of commonsense justice.

“Appealing to our dubious obligations to international human rights treaties cuts right across the humans rights of those victims these criminals have created.

“After all, where can the victims go for compensation?

“It’s hypocritical and absurd to let criminals assert their legal rights when they’re in prison for trampling all over the legal rights of their victims,” said Mr Alexander.
