Newman Welcomes Deputy Leader Role
ACT New Zealand MP Dr Muriel Newman today expressed delight at being elected ACT's new Deputy Leader.
"During the Primary, I campaigned for the need for a woman in the leadership team of ACT, and I was delighted and privileged to be elected Deputy Leader this afternoon," Dr Newman said.
"I look forward to having the opportunity to reach out to women in all walks of life, to share with them the benefits that ACT would provide for them and their families, and to increasing the support amongst women voters.
"If women supported ACT at the same rate as men, ACT would have had 10 percent of the party vote in the last election, and 12 MPs. Increasing the support amongst women is an important priority for the party.
"I look forward to working with our new leader Rodney Hide,
my caucus team, and to serving the party as deputy
leader," Dr Newman said.
