Smith delighted at restorative justice funding
United Future justice spokesman Murray Smith is very pleased that United Future’s lobbying of the government has seen a positive dividend in the allocation of funding for restorative justice initiatives in the Budget.
“The $4.4 million allocated over the next four years is what United Future has calculated is needed to beef up the programmes that are aimed at meeting the needs of both justice and rehabilitation,” he said.
“The more successful these programmes are, the less the taxpayer will need to spend on police and prison services further down the track.”
