Adams welcomes Govt support for teenagers
United Future’s youth and employment spokesman, Paul Adams, today welcomed the $57 million Budget initiative announced
today that will provide extra help for young people making the transition from school to work.
“It’s crucial for the long-term health of New Zealand families and our society that our young people get into the
habits of paid employment as soon as possible,” he said.
“We simply cannot afford to waste the national resource that is our young people, especially when at any point in time
there are around 18,000 15-17 year-olds not in work, education or training.
“I therefore welcome any move by the Government to help these young people avoid the potential pitfalls of increasing
mental ill-health or crime,” he said.
