Progressives support students petition

Progressives support further student support as per petition
"Progressives support living allowances for students so they do not have to borrow money for living expenses and welcome the students’ petition presented at Parliament today", Matt Robson, Progressive Deputy Leader said.
"The student debt burden is compounded by the fact that many students borrow money to pay for living costs. The Progressives have been supporting and promoting moves within government to relieve this problem.
"The world may soon have a shortage of skilled workers and we will be left behind if we do not keep up. Increased access to tertiary education is essential for our future if we want higher incomes for all New Zealanders. That is why the Progressives have an ambition of free education from pre-school to tertiary and promote all moves towards this goal," Matt Robson said.
Progressive key policy steps on tertiary education:
We will work to: Stop the burden getting worse, Reduce the scale of the debt by a range of options, Freeze fees, Reduce or eliminate fees for the first year of study, Introduce living allowances so students do not have to borrow money to live, Work towards the progressive elimination of all fees.
