Anzac Day, A Time To Honour The Brave
Anzac Day, A Time To Honour The Brave
New Zealand First defence spokesperson and former soldier Ron Mark stressed the importance today of honouring those who have served and continue to serve in the New Zealand Defence Force.
Mr Mark also said it was a time to reflect on our relationship with our closest neighbours and allies, Australia, and the differences in which our Governments treat both current and retired servicemen and women.
“While the New Zealand public has shown a renewed level of interest and respect for Anzac Day, evidenced by increasing crowds at dawn services, the Government continues to be left behind by Australia when it comes to looking after its former and current Armed Forces personnel.
“Perhaps the Government should take some time on Sunday to think about the effects of their disarming policies of the past four years and look at our neighbours across the ditch for some inspiration.
“Perhaps then we could have Armed Forces which have world class equipment to match our world class Defence Force Personnel,” concluded Mr Mark.
