Newman Demands Dyson's Resignation

ACT New Zealand Social Welfare Spokesman Dr Muriel Newman today called for CYF Minister Ruth Dyson to be sacked for her appalling behaviour before the Social Services Select Committee.

"Not only did the Minister criticised the Committee for requesting that CYF front up to account for it's ballooning waiting list of unallocated cases, but she insulted a committee member, calling National MP Katherine Rich an `irresponsible tart'.

"This is absolutely outrageous, and Ms Dyson should be held to account. It is completely unacceptable for a Minister to allow her personal prejudices to interfere with her Ministerial role, and she has demonstrated that she lacks the ability to act professionally.

"I urge Prime Minister Helen Clark to demand that Ms Dyson resign," Dr Newman said.
