Dollar for dollar deal a good start
Rangitikei MP Simon Power says the Government's plan to match dollar-for-dollar funds raised by nationwide appeals for flood victims is a good start.
"It is only fair that the Government should match the hard-earned money raised by communities around New Zealand.
"We now look forward to the release of the full package, and await confirmation that it will be of a similar nature to the package offered to the victims of Cyclone Bola.
"The lower North Island has suffered around $200 million in damage and it is going to take a long time for the area to get back on its feet."
Mr Power says he will continue to work hard to make sure the destruction in Rangitikei and Manawatu remains a priority for the Government.
