Answers needed on mysterious handling of letter
National Party Leader Don Brash says the public needs answers about the role of the Prime Minister's electorate office in the 'leaks and lies' scandal that's led to the sacking of Immigration Minister Lianne Dalziel.
"There is a real mystery about this and New Zealanders need answers.
"How does a privileged legal letter to a client somehow get from the refugee centre to the Prime Minister's electorate office in Auckland?
"For all we know, officials are regularly rifling through personal effects and passing on information to the PM.
"We need answers. What was the link between the electorate office and the Immigration Minister?
"Something doesn't gel about this, particularly when the PM backs her Minister all the way one day and then reverses direction overnight. It's hardly credible to blame a single word in a single news report," Dr Brash says.
