National Party State Services spokesman Murray McCully is appalled that the Government is planning superficial changes at Te Puni Kokiri while allowing its chief executive to stay on.
"By the State Services Minister's own admission the Maori Development Ministry has been one causing the Government 'the most concern'.
"Following the State Services Commission report in October, the Ministry was in effect - put under statutory management.
"This is a Ministry with almost legendary problems and they will not be solved by re-appointing the current crop of managers with fancy new titles," says Mr McCully.
"If recent performance standards had been seen in any other Ministry, the current leadership would be down the road.
"It is only cringing
political correctness and a fear of a Maori backlash that
keeps them in their jobs," Mr McCully says.
