Outlaw Patches And Gangs

New Zealand First is calling on the Government to outlaw gangs after a man was attacked in his home over the weekend by four alleged gang members near Wairoa.

“It is time to stop the wishy washy approach and get serious and outlaw the wearing of patches as a move towards eventually outlawing gangs altogether,” said law and order spokesperson Ron Mark.

“I doubt there would be many people around the country who would object to the Government taking such drastic action, particularly in areas like Wairoa where they are plagued by the battles of rival gangs.

“It is obvious that the so-called police crackdown on gangs has not worked. This is in no way reflective of the police work but rather that they are out numbered by gang members 3 -1 and do not have the law behind them to deal with gangs effectively.

“The Government must act to protect the citizens of New Zealand. Nobody should have to witness, or worse get caught in the middle of, gang violence.

“We have put up with the existence of gangs for too long terrorising towns, committing crimes and pushing our police force to its limits.

“It is time to get tough and outlaw gangs,” said Mr Mark.
