Families Commission Neutered By Government Says NZ First
New Zealand First has repeated its opposition to the politically correct Families Commission as proposed by the Government.
“The social fabric of our society continues to be seriously eroded by the promotion of so-called liberal policies without so much as a ‘by your leave’,” said New Zealand First family affairs spokesperson Barbara Stewart.
“The family is fundamental to the optimal development of children and many current social problems are a result of a lack of support of this traditional institution.
“The proposed commission fails to recognise this and will exacerbate the situation as a result of the outlandishly politically correct definition of family,” said Mrs. Stewart.
“Cumbersome structures and the duplication of tasks that are undertaken by other agencies will ensure that the goals of the commission will never be realised.
“At a time when the beleaguered Department of Child, Youth and Family services is under increasing pressure because of reported child abuse and neglect the Government has again missed the boat.
“This is a neutered commission of political expediency and a sellout of traditional New Zealand families, which are the basis of what was once a world leading civil society,” said Mrs. Stewart.
