Greens All GE Bluster Says NZ First
“The current round of threats by the Greens not to support a Labour government if it proceeds with GE are a load of bunkum,’ says New Zealand First GE spokesperson, Brian Donnelly.
“A check of the Greens’ record shows how flakey such threats are. At the last election the Greens threatened to bring the government down if it lifted the moratorium. The moratorium has gone and the Greens continue to support Labour’s legislation.
“The true extent of the Greens’ duplicity was shown when, on the same day, the legislation enabling the moratorium to be lifted was passed, the Greens provided the Government with the critical votes needed to pass the Supreme Court Bill.
“On the Supreme Court Bill the Greens held all the chips and could have used them to bargain over the GE legislation.
“What did they do? They meekly handed their bargaining chips to Labour simply for the asking.
“The Greens will do exactly the same with the Care of Children Bill. Their threats are simply not worth the paper they are written on,” said Mr Donnelly.
