Dunne declines fading politicians’ advice
United Future leader, Peter Dunne, says while he welcomes advice from senior MP’s concerning his Prime Ministerial
ambitions, “considering the source is a couple of fading politicians of yesteryear, I must regretfully decline it.”
“ACT leader Richard Prebble says I have more chance of being the All Blacks’ captain than of becoming PM.
“This view merely demonstrates Mr Prebble’s lamentable ignorance of both rugby and politics.
“I concede Mr Prebble has much more political experience than I in the field of losing electorate seats and MP’s from
his caucus, but I am happy to remain a novice in those areas.
“New Zealand First leader Winston Peters has also been kind enough to comment, but his track record of political
leadership inspires no confidence.
“When he had the opportunity to be part of the country’s leadership, he failed miserably.
“He was sacked from Cabinet and when he returned as deputy Prime Minister, he sacked himself from Cabinet in a fit of
petulance, and went on to carelessly lose half of his own caucus.
“As a squashed bug on the windscreen of history, Mr Peters would do better to revisit his racist and xenophobic policies
if he wishes ever to be taken seriously in New Zealand politics again,” concluded Mr Dunne.
